This monumental and socially engaged sculpture represents a human pyramid, at the summit of which Europa, portrayed as a heroic figure, protects with one arm while pointing the way forward with the other. The twelve figures that make up the work evoke the twelve stars of the European flag.

Interactive and evolving, the sculpture is part of a reflection on the unity of European peoples and their shared heritage, particularly Greco-Roman and Celtic.

Created at the age of 24, this early work was also Jean-Sébastien Raud’s first monumental sculpture. Through its ambition, scale, and compositional complexity, it marked a decisive stage in his artistic development: the moment when he fully asserted his ability to conceive and carry through a work of major scope.

It already contains the key themes that would continue to shape his work: unity in diversity, transmission, fraternity, symbols, and the search for a universal language.
